Hello,
The word angel means 'Messenger' so, not surprisingly, many times in the Bible, God chooses angels to take his message to people.
Probably the most famous time that angels were God's messenger was when they were used to announce the coming of Jesus into the world – both at his birth and to tell Jesus' friends that he had come back to life.
The angels opening words 'Do not be Afraid' seem to be a common opening greeting from angels when they are bringing good or comforting news.
In many other places in the Bible, angels are used to help God tell his message. In the Old Testament, angels have a part at the two most occasions in the creation of Jewish (and so also the Christian) faith 3.
